The Old Ghost Road is above all a community-driven project. The Mokihinui-Lyell Backcountry Trust is a registered charitable trust, and we rely on the efforts of our amazing volunteers to achieve what we do. There are several ways you can help make the Old Ghost Road come to life:

Way to help #1 – Be a track minder.

We welcome you to join the joy of creating The Old Ghost Road in the most fundamental way as you walk or ride along. If easily movable rocks or limbs have fallen on the track become part of the team by simply moving them aside. This sounds simple....and it is - it is amazing how much more your ramble will mean to you with this tiny effort. It’s a simple gift to the next trail users that come along.

Way to help #2 – Spread the word.

Write in the Online Trail & Hut Book and share your experience(s).  We're constantly humbled by people's experiences and feedback - we encourage you to share them with a wider audience.   

Way to Help #3 – Donate 

100 cents out of every dollar goes into "The Old Ghost Road hut and trail maintenance fund”. And your name goes onto the Donors Board. That legendary list is growing and shows giving chronologically. You never disappear. And every time you contribute you appear again.....

Way to help #4 – Volunteer.

Complete our Become a Friend form, register your interest for work parties, administrative help, or anything else,  and when the time comes around get ready for one amazing experience.
